Your stomach gets upset.
Food that you eat should provide you with energy, and any waste should then exit the body. This entire process is called digestion. So when you overeat, the body goes into overdrive. This can cause frequent bowel movements and even diarrhea.
Also, what you eat can have an effect. Eating slowly and chewing well is the key to avoiding this kind of situation, although not overeating might be the best solution. But if you do face this problem, don’t forget to hydrate your body since you lose a lot of water during the process. Coconut water can be an elixir in cases like this.
Your body feels like it’s mid-summer.
If you eat more than what you usually do, the body’s metabolism goes for a spin. Your heart rate will go up and you will begin to perspire profusely as if you’re inside a sauna. Unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do to stop this metabolism overdrive. Once the metabolism is finished working, everything will return to normal.

There’s a commonly held belief that overeating can make you feel sleepy, but the truth is that if you overeat, it can cause you to feel restless and sleepless. Overeating can throw your circadian clock out the window by aiding the body in releasing hormones that regulate sleep. Also, if the food that you ate was high in carbs (like pasta or pie), even if you fell asleep on time, at night when the sugar level in the body drops, you might wake up hungry again.
The best thing to do to avoid such a situation is to stop eating before bedtime. But if you already committed the mistake, then making the bedroom dark and cranking down the air-conditioner might help.
While you might be having a hard time falling asleep after eating more than you can healthily handle, dizziness is something that can also set in. This is because to digest food, the metabolism speeds up and so does the heart rate. Again, there is nothing that can be done to offset this feeling.
To feel more comfortable, drink plenty of fluid and rest until the feeling dies down.
You feel nervous, irritated, and can’t concentrate.
Feeling nervous and irritated or experiencing difficulty concentrating on a task at hand after a sumptuous meal are all signs that your body is working hard to process all the food that you’ve eaten. When you overeat, the body releases the hormone insulin to store excess sugar in order to be used when your blood sugar is low or when you need more energy between meals or during exercise. This causes the sugar level in the body to drop drastically, giving you all kinds of unpleasant feelings that you don’t want.
What’s funny is that because of this hormone play, you will feel hungry even after having overeaten. This is the body’s mechanism to put back the required amount of sugar in the bloodstream. But don’t fall for it. It’s better to eat leafy green vegetables or eggs that will satiate your hunger. Don’t go for those unhealthy snacks that you might be craving.
You suddenly develop a beer belly.
The most noticeable change you can develop is a slight increase in the size of your belly. You may think your trousers have shrunk, but it’s your stomach that has grown! Once the food has been digested, the stomach will shrink back to its normal size.
The easiest way to avoid this is to eat slowly. It will not only let you savor your meal, but it will also give your brain enough time to understand when you feel full, a signal that you should stop eating.
