About half of the adult population is familiar with bunions, which happen more often in women. They can either be inherited or appear due to the wearing of improper shoes. 1. Take off your shoes and walk barefoot.
You can walk barefoot any time you have the opportunity. This will help strengthen the foot muscles and return the toe bone to its proper place. Also your feet will get relief from uncomfortable shoes.
If it hurts you to walk around barefoot, then you should walk on a thick carpet. Otherwise this walking can bring more pain to your bunions.
2. Peppers help with inflammation.
Red chili peppers have an anti-inflammatory effect and also warm the bunion well, which improves blood flow. In order to use peppers as a treatment, you should chop them. And then choose a way that you like most.
- Squeeze the juice out of the peppers and spread it on the bunion. Then apply a little bit of Vaseline to this area and wrap it with a cloth. Leave it on for 15 minutes.
- Mix the peppers with olive oil in a 1:2 ratio and apply the oil to the bunion. Gently massaging the affected area for 15 minutes.
If you feel a strong burning sensation, then reduce the amount of peppers, increasing it gradually to the recommended proportions.
3. Make your foot muscles stronger.
Not only will exercises will help you strengthen your foot muscles, but they can also ease the pain of bunions. You’ll just need to perform them carefully, without overloading the bunion.
- Stand up straight and press your toes on the floor for 10 seconds without lifting the heel off. Then lift them up and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat up to 5 times.
- Curl your toes around a towel and pull toward yourself. Then straighten them. Repeat this 5-10 times.
4. Use ice to reduce pain.
Ice can help reduce inflammation and pain in the bunion. All you need are just ice cubes and a cloth.
Wrap the ice with a cloth and place it on the bunion. Do not press hard and hold for 10-20 minutes. You can use this treatment method 1-2 times a day.
5. Castor oil shrinks bunions.
Castor oil has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. It also helps reduce inflammation and pain which is why it’s actively used for bunion treatment.
Take 50-100 ml of castor oil and heat it a little in a pan. Dip a rag in the warm oil and place it on the bunion. Wrap your foot with a dry bandage or towel to keep it warm. Hold it for 20 minutes and repeat this remedy 1-2 times a day.
6. Bunion correctors keep toes in a natural position.
Correctors are a good way to treat bunion. First, it helps ease the inconvenience of wearing shoes. They will prevent rubbing and change the position of the foot.
